Huston for the rest of the meeting for foul riding. In the firstheat he started off at 70yds, and after Sutherland (scratch) hid caught R. Conn ell (40yds) Huston appeared to "drop back and wait for Major Taylor. As Taylor caught him he slackened the pace perceptibly, and the officials deemed him guilty of loul'iiding I "hi endeavonng to slow down the field."
