CRICKET, OTAGO v. CANTERBURY.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Allow me to inquire through your paper why the cx-Otago captain (Mr A E. Glides) was omitted from the team selected to practice for the interprovincial match Otago v. Canterbury. He has undoubtedly proved himself a rod good skipper, and is recognised by the majority of our cricketers as the best all-round man in Otago. TTia batting and bowling average for last season assert his ability, while as a field he is second to nonet He, has only taken part in one out of the three matches played this season, and then he scored 44 runs, bagged eight wickets, and caught three—not such a bad performance for his first match. He is completely restored from the accident, which unfortunately caused his retirement last season, and at present is feeling as fit and keen as ever for the game. Probably it would bo more in his favor if he played for some town club, instead of coaching and assisting the local team. It is in the interest of the cricketing public that I write this, as x>e would like the team to be thoroughly representative of Otago.—l am, etc..
