MEETINGS OF SOCIETIES

The. Hope of Gaversham Lodge, 1.0. G.T., held their weekly meeting on Thursday evening in the Kew P.M. Schoolroom, Sis. Thorn in the chair. Sis. L. Thom spoke on juvenile Templary, and the. Caversham’s Hope Juvenile Telnple visited officially. Harmony was supplied by members of the Temple, the following contributing -Bro. Sudden (recitation), Sis. B. South (recitation), Sis. Wilson (soto), Sisters Fawcett and Peterson (dialogue), Bro. Good (recitation), Sis. Yates (recitation). The following adult members also took part: Sis. A. Hobson (recitation), Bro. Newton (solo). Sis. L. Thorn (solo), Bro. G. Campbell (organ solo). Sis Cook (recitation). Sis. Peterson, C.T., responded on behalf of the Temple, and to the usual vote. Bro. Cook (0.1. Pioneer) and Bro. Roxburgh (Hope of Dunedin) replied. ° The Phoenix Encampment, 1.0.0. F., held their annual metingjn the Oddfellows’ Hall, .rtlhany street, on Friday evening. Chief Patriarch M. B. Fell presiding. The principal business of the evening was the ehction and installation of the officers for the ensuing term. The following were elected : —Chief patriarch. Bro, J. A. Walker • senior warden, Bro. J. Ellis ; junior warden. Bro. J. Bishop; worthy hi Mi priest, Bro. C. M‘Peak ; scribe. Bro." A. H. Valentine; treasurer, Bro. D. M. Miller as guards of tents. I'he encampment was then closed, and the memlx-i s assembled around the festive hoard, and complimentary toasts wore exchanged.
