The Scottish shale miners have accepted arbitration in connection .with the trouble offer the recent demaitd for an increase in wages.

As the outcome of the dispnte in the tailoring trade the Arbitration CourtgraEted leave to the Master Tailors' Assnciation to prosecute the secretary of the Journeyman Tailors' Association for instigating the tailors employed by the former companies to strike; also to prosecute a number of strikers for ceasing -work because they opposed a change from piecework to weekly •wages.

PIECEWORK PREFERRED TO A

WEEKLY WAGE.

SYDNEY, October 27 (Received October 27, at 9.19 a.m.)

The Tailors' Union have resolved to demand piecework, all members to give reasonable notice before ceasing work under the weekly wages system. They have also resolved to apply to the Arbitration Coort to vary their recent award, and to give preferece to piecework.
