TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—Just, a parting shot at " One of the Competitora." In regard to his remarks concerning the reading of gTeat poets, your correspondent displays alarming ignorance. Unless he reads, not necessarily learns. Byron, Milton, Tennyson, and scores of other great writers be cannot hope to write with poetical languagt. His expression •would resemble the conversation of a farm laborer in Government House—it would incessantly be out of place, and would jar >n his hearers' nerves.—l am, etc.,
