THE CLUTHA FLOODS RELIEF FUND.
10 THE EDITOR. Sir,—-?Jr C. S. Reeves and his coduistee (Mr Keith Ramsay) have themselves tof thank for the adverse comments made not only in the House of Representatives but through the Press concerning the administration of the above fund. The Premier, with all his faults, has evidently a warm heart for a case of distress, for be immediately consented to the wishes of the members that some further consideration Le extended to the case of the widow wh9 was left with" two little children unprovided for, and a superabundance of funds evidently in hand. What, I ask, would be the first piomptings of a fellow-mortal? Of course, sir, we know that it would require a vessel to go down in the sea with all hands, or a number of men to be entombed in a mine, to rouse some people to a sense of their duty.—l am, etc., Wn.r.TAM Dickson.
