(Received May 26, at 8.47 a.m.) The sale of pictures at Christie’s rooms, London, brought a total of £105,845. The Maile collection realised £58,529. Gainsborough’s portrait ,of a girl, which a Bond street dealer had refused to buy for £5, realised £9,000, and a picture by Sir George Romney (1734-1802) £9,490'
