MEETINGS OF SOCIETIES.
At the fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Hand and Heart Lodge, M.U., N.G. Bro. J. Osborne Hopcraft presided. Five candidates were initiated. After business, harmony was contributed by the following brothers: —V.Q. Tobias (pianoforte solo), P.G. Berry (song), P.G. Flynn (song, encored), N.G. Hopcraft (song), M'Gregor ■iiid Johnstone (duet). The following responded to the visitors’ toast;—P.G.M. 1-(Loyal Caversham Lodge), G.M. v nnedy (Loyal Albion Lodge). E.S. At the weekly meeting of the Hope of Caversham Lodge, 1.0.0. T., C.T. Bro. H. Brough presiding, a discussion on ‘Drink’ was participated in by Sisters F. Thorn. Bcterson, Fry, and S. Thorn. Bros. Sharp. Jr- Brough, H. Brough, South, sen.. Liddell, and Riedle. Bro. Riedle responded on Oehalf of the Alliance.
The Hope of Dunedin Lodge of Good Templars held their weekly meeting on Friday evening in the Rattray street Oddfellows’ Hall. Bro. Baxter, from Geraldine, ?ave an address on the Good of the Order. The programme was contributed by Sis. Wentworth (pianoforte selection), Sis. D. Johnston (song), Bro. Gray (recitation), Bro. Birrell (address and recitat'on), Bros, Wills, Baiter, and Breeze (songs). Sis. Johnston and Bro. Thom (duet). Items and nuttings from the daily Press on the ‘ Doings of Drink ’ were read by Sis. Stephenson and Bros. Birrell and Cormack. The C.T. was appointed delegate to the District Lodge.. The visitors’ vote was responded to by Bros. Breeze (Pioneer), Birrell (Alliance), Baxter (Welcome Retreat), and Nisbet (Lily of the Valley).
The Ivanhoe Lodge held their quarterly meeting last week, when a large number of members were present. After routine business was disposed of the nomination of officers took place. During the evening D.P. Bro. J. Harland (on behalf of the lodges in No. 19 District) presented P D.P. Bro. A. D. Hunter with a P.D.P. collar as a memento of h's term of office as District President. Visitors from All Nations and Horsham (Melbourne) Lodges were present. Receipts. £7l 7s Bd.
