THE ALHAMBRA THEATRE
The present programme at the above theatre is an admirable one, and the proprietors are sure to do excellent business so long as they provide such well-varied and interesting entertainments. On Saturday night the theatre was packed to the doora, nd late-comers had to stand in all parts of the building. The first half of the programme was of the usual description, Messrs Watkins, Howard, and the Driscoll brothers providing lively fun, Mr Fraser Bhaw giving a vigorous rendering of ‘Let me, like a soldier fall,’ and the Phillips s’sters doing a neat and graceful double song and dance. -In the scond part the - bove-mentioned performers returned with fresh items, all very well received, and Mr Fred Bluett, well known and Iked in Dunedin, made his reappearance after an absence of nearly three years. Mr Bluett was a good comic singer, and on Saturday night he introduced new items', some of them really clever. He was warmly welcomed, and is well worth hearing. A few rather indifferent bioscope views and a farce of the usual description wound up an entertainment which can be recommended as excellent in its line. The company appear again this evening.
