The dredge cannot bo floated down until there is a rise in the river. The dredge has been got into pretty good order. The ground has been deep and bard. Erickyon's Reward.—The last report states thait the best gold has evidently come down Wyndham Gully. The dredge is over a chain past the gully, the ground being shallower. They expected to be up to the boundary-line in a couple of weeks. The timber and stumps buried in the tailings had been troublesome. The pontoons will require repairs before long, and the dredgemaster wanted two bulkheads put mat the stern and new gantry legs. Ho is getting estimates for these from a ship's carpenter. Aldbga.—Dredging had been interrupted by repairs to buckets, and the head-line Bad been shifted. On the Tuesday the new crossbar of the ladder hangers was put m, and the bucket belt had been tightened. Tne face was still about four chains. The depth on the Eouth side of the face was 21ft, rising to 9ft in the centre and dipping slowlj to the north side. The' gold was a very good sample of two kinds. The neurit was round, wid came from quartz earned down from the back country, while the othur was fiat and worn by glacial action. Except the screen, which deeded replating, the machinery was running well. DUNEDIN EXCHANGE.
