LIFE-SAVING APPLIANCE WANTED AT ST. CLAIR.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — I witnessed on Saturday afternoon at St. Clair Beach an accident which might have ended in death if it were not for the prompt action of two gentlemen (I don’t know their names) in rushing to the rescue of a person in the surf. The fact* we shortly these: An old lady was wading in the surf just opposite the tram terminus when an Unusually big roller came in and threw her off her feet. She was turned over a few times by the sea and taken a little way out by the backwash, and I have no hesitation in saying that if it wen not for the promptness displayed by the tiro gentlemen already mentioned the poor old lady would probably have been drpoyned,
