- LORD HAWKE’S TEAM. AUCKLAND, December 16. Lord Hawke’s team arrived by the Ventura, and were welcomed by Messrs F. C. Raphael, M'Kinney, and Troth Mr Warner stated that the men bad had a very good passage, and that the trip was not likely to impair their play on Friday. Replying to a query as to what Sort of team they were, the captain said there was lots of batting, good fielding, and varied bowling. The bowlers were Thompson, Hargreaves, Bosanquet, Dowson, and Burnip. Thompson was the fastest righthand, and Hargreaves left-handed. Bosanquet was both fast and slow; Dowson slow. He had received a cable stating that Lord Hawke was not coming out, in consequence of his accident- in the hunting field and the illness of his mother. .

The following team will represent the Dunedin, against the Grocers on the Caledonian Ground to-morrow;—Skitch, Frith, Dotting, Jones, Thomson (2), Tucker, South, Hicks, Moody, Brown. The South Otago Cricket Association (Balclutha) will play twenty-two men against the English team. At the invitation of the Southland Cricket Association, they send a team to Invercargill to play a match on Christmas and Boxing Days.
