MR J. J. RAMSAY'S CHARGE. TO THE EDITOR.

Sir, —-Your correspondent “Citizen” is evidently hard hit. Mr Ramsay’s letter has cot only been appreciated by his friends, hot I venture to assert it hos gained him hosts of others. - There is a straight outspokenness about it that is badly wanted in Dunedin, and if “Citizen” and his ill-advised friends \ follow Mr Ramsay any further they may find such a public demonstration made that will surprise them. It was all very fine for ex-mayors and patriots to do the self-glory business in the “send off.” We want men to stand to “ bur brave boys when they need it.” Such a one is Mr Ramsay, and, like Oliver Twist, we are clamoring for more men of the same stamp.—l am, etc,, 1,619, N.Z.M.R.
