[Psa Exited Paisa Association.] INVERCARGILL, September 26. At the Police Court W. Vickery, butel'cr, was fined 40s and costs for the slaughter of a bullock outside the registered abattoirs. The magistrate remarked that thft maximum fine was £SO, but as this was the first case of the kind the penalty was made light WELLINGTON, September 26. A test case, questioning the right of shopkeepers to combine to issue finding stamps other than the stamps issued by the Government, was brought here to-day. The facts were admitted and the matter argued on legal grounds. Judgment was reserved. CHRISTCHURCH, September 26. A young woman gave birth to a child early this morning in Hagley Park during a heavy rain and snow squall. When found the child was dead. The mother has been removed to the Samaritan Home. AUCKLAND, September 26. The Cro.vn Lands Board to-day instructed fh»* _ Commissioner to draft regulations- for leasing 95,000 acres'in Hauraki mining district for fourteen years.
