HARBOR BOARD.

The rrdinnry meeting of the Otago Harbor Board was held this afternoon ; present Messrs J. T. Mackerras (in the chair), T. Ross, J. Carroll, W. Dawson, J. Cable, and J. Robin. The bark book showed a credit balance of £2.221 8s 7d. The Acting-Chairman read a telegram from tie Hon. H. Gourley stating that the Drainage Bill with new clauses had passed its third reading.—The secretary (Mr Rawson) read the new clauses, and said their effect would be that a scheme had to be submitted to the Harbor Board first, and if they approved the scheme they went to the Governor for his final deds : oh. The iecretary of the Kira u H rbor Board wrote applying for a refund of the harbor dues charged in connection with the recent visit to Port Chalmers of the dredge Kmaru for docking.—The Board decided to grant the request, Mr Mackerras said that the Finance and Works Committees met at the usual time, but neither had reported. The vouchers were, however, gone into. He went over the works vouchers himself and signed them.—The acting-chainnan’s action was approved. The Engineer read his report as published yesterday. —The report was received and approved. The Board then went into committee. The Board in committee considered a report by the harbor-master in reference, to rearrangement of his staff, and adopted the following recommendations by the secretary:—That Mr Stevens, deputy harbormaster, be granted six months’ leave of absence ; that . Captain Gordon be appointed deputy haibor-master at £lB per month; Captain Spence to be tug master; Mate Kindley to be transferred to Dredge 222 as winehman, and the present winchman (Ramsay) to be mate of tug.
