DUNEDIN RIFLE CLUB.

The annual meeting of.the above club was held last night, Mr 0. £***& presiding. The following is a resume "of the annual report:—Your Committee- congratulate members on the increased interest taken in shooting. The attendance at 'the range on Saturdays baa been ex<xedingly satisfactory, and the shooting of some of the members, of a high order—-notably that of Mr Speight, who put on" a record for Dunedin of 100 at 300, 500, and 600 yards; and that of Mr R. Greensiade, who made 97 in each of his last three shots at the same ranges. Seventeen men represented the club at the Otago Rifle Association, and most of them got into the prize-list. Two members represented the club at the New Zealand Rifle Association's meeting, tut were not very successful. During the season the club, 'owing to the assistance of Messrs Millar and Arnold, M.H.R.s, were enabled to purchase twentvfive Martini-Enfield Rifles from the Government, and the club has to thank Mr Speight for financing the affair. The prize-winners were:—For Mr Grsenslade's prize—Mr Tonkin, with Mr Gillan second and Mr Proudfoot third ; Mr ■■ Shaw's prize—Mr Hardie, Messrs Lyders and Proudfoot tieing for second place; Mr Speight's prize—Mr M'Natty, with Mr Proudfoot second and Mr Hardie third; Mr M'CarthyV and secretary's prizes—Mr Gillan and Mr Hutchinson respectively; Mr Montgomery's prize—Mr Proudfoot, with Mr Speight second and Mr Bannennan third; Mr Lyder's prize—Mr Greenslade, with Mr Montgomery second and Mr Speight third; Mr Moller>s prizeMr Speight, with Mr Proudfoot second and Mr Hardie third. Mr Speight also won the championship, with Mr Montgomery second and Mr Hardie third. A sweepstake match wound up the season, Mr R. Greenslade being first, Mr Proudfoot second, and Mr Moss (a visitor) thir<L Two team matches were fired during the season. The first, against the Dunedin City Guards, was won by the club by 14 points; the second, against the Dunedin City Guards and the Kaitangata Rifles,' the Guards beating the club by 14. points, and the club beating the Kaitangata men by 21 points. Your Committee hope that the incoming season may prove as successful as the past one. A small deficiency wa3 shown by the balancesheet, accounted for by heavy expenditure on the range and loss on ammunition supplied to members. It was decided to make a-levy of 2s 6d on old members. The report, and balance-sheet having been adopted the election of oflice-beareis was proceeded with, resulting as follows:—President, Mr Shaw; vice-presidents—Messrs C. F. Greenslade, G. C. Proudfoot; J. B. M'Cailum W. Young, and R. Rutherford; i B v Montgomery; deputy-captain, Mr Lyders; hon. secretary, Mr Proudfoot: hon. treasurer, Mr Speight; committedMessrs ..
