BAND CONTEST.
, TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —I was very much surprised to hear whispered about the town that the band contest arranged for Coronation Day was not likely to come off, owing to some disagreement among some of the bands concerning the rules for entry. Now, sir, I consider that if the Committee allow this important function to fall through it will undoubtedly greatly disappoint our musical community. Dunedin is justly celebrated for its numerous bands, of whom the public are proud, and I am sure the afternoon will be completely spoiled if wo are not permitted to visit the Caledonian Ground and witness this competition. Trusting that the Musical Committee will smooth out the difficulties between the bands—-I am, etc., A Lover of Band Music. June 20.
