'THE MESSENGER BOY.'

The Princess’s Theatre was well filled last evening, when Pollard’s Opera Company produced ‘ The Messenger _ Boy for the second time. As on the previous night, the audience were enthusiastic in their appreciation of the efforts of the principals, whose acting and singing were of a ni;'h order. The setting and dressing of the comedy also received more than passing notice at the bands of the audience, who were apparently delighted with ail they saw and heard. Mr Percy, in the name Eart, is afforded ample scope for displaying is undoubted abilities, and his acting and singing are well np to the usual standard. He never misses a point, and while he is on the stage keeps his auditors in a continual state of merriment. Perhaps the eating of the macaroni would bear toning down, however. Miss Connie Battel is well cast as Nora, while Miss Alice Edgar has a congenial part in Mrs Bang. Mis* Gertie Campion, Mr Connor, Mr Carter, Mr Stephens, and Mr Quealy (whose eccentric dance is londly redemanded) all help considerably towards the evenin’s enjoyment. The duet between Mr Percy and Miss Gertie Campion, introducing character sketches, caused no end of amusement, and that between Mr Percy and Mr Quealy (‘A little bit further on*) and Mr Connor’s solo (‘A perfectly peaceable person’) also bit the popular taste. The choruses were ah well sung, and altogether the performance was a thoroughly enjoyable one from beginning to end. ‘The Messenger Boy’ will be repeated to-night. ‘ln Town’ is the attraction for to-morrow afternoon’s matinee.
