Somerset defeated Yorkshire, Braund (Somerset) taking fifteen wickete for 70 runs and Haigh (Yorkshiro) six for 19. [Somerset hadthe distinction of being the only county to lower the colors of Yorkshire during the summer of 1901. The win was a memorable one, Somerset, after being headed on the first inning, by 258 runs, winning by 279 runs. The first Somerset encounter with Yorkshire was also a notable one, the northern county, after a desperate fight, winning a minute or two before time by one wicket.]
