FOOTBALL.
THE RANFURLY SHIELDWELLINGTON, Juno 20. The New Zealand Rugby Union, at a special meeting last night in reference to competitions for the Banfnrly •'haUenge shield, resolved by 16 to 11 that the holders of tie shield shall refund to a challenging union reasonable expenses of transit; Ihe Management Committee of the New Zealand Union to be sole judges of what expenses are reasonable. The Auckland and Otago delegates opposed the motion. It was decided that the competition begin with the first interprevindal game of this season. Southern will be represented in senior football bo-morrow by Clarke, Chambers, Casey, Stfftth, Gillies, Alien, Spence, Owcy, Foster, Olson, Taylor, Leyden, MTSwen, S mpson, Christie; emergencies—Spence, Watt.
