Replying to a query by Mr Bollard, M.H.R., as to why divine service was not to be held In the prisons on Coronation Pay, the Acting-Premier wired: “Because we have made arrangements for granting indulgences to prisoners which they will very much prefer to tha programme sug. nested by you on that particular day-” Mr Bollard understands that the indulgences referred to are roast beef and plum pudding, In reply to the Birkenhead Borough Council, Sir J. G- Ward has wired that too Coronation subsidy cannot be used for making roads and paths.
