VETERANS' LUNCH.

TO THU EDITOR. . Sir, —I observe a letter in your last evening’s issue on tbe above subject by “ A.C.,” and I quite agree with him that a 2s lunch would be amply sufficient to satisfy the temporary craving of the inner man on Coronation Day; but “A.C.” seems to have overlooked the fact that it is the Coronation Committee officers who are runn ng this (I was nearly saying champagne) campaign, and not the veterans tin inselves. 1 certainly think it waste of money to pay 4s for a “cold” lunch, when many of our leading hotels would provide a good who’esome “hot’’ dinner for leas; and that would be more satisfactory even to a veteran on a cold winter's day. Most of them, 1 have no doubt, are smokers. Give them half a fiound of tobacco, which will last them onger and satisfy them better than a cold lunch at four “ bob ” a head. — l am, etc.. Native.
