ARRIVAL OF THE SILYERSTREAM.

The barque Sflverstream, which arrived off the Heads on Wednesday evening from Cape Town for orders, was towed into Port last night and anchored off Carey Bay and was cleared by the health officer (Dr’Hodges) this morning. The Silverkream is a steed vessel of 1,242 tons, built at Londonderry in 1890 by Messrs C.J. Siegers and Co., and is owned by Mr W. P Herdman, of Belfast. Her dimensions are- Length, 226 ft; breadth, 36ft 4in; depth of hold, 29ft 9in. She will follow the ship Taranaki on tho loading berth for London. , , „ „ n The Silvetsteam left Cape Town on December 31, experienced northerly to westerly winds, with rainy weather, until Tannarv 23, on which date she encountered a bS W.N.W. gale in latitude 48deg SOmin. S-, longitude 115deg E. The gale was accompanied by a mountainous sea. The vessel ran fifteen knots an hour for twenty-four hours. After the gale moderated she had favorable winds. Rounded the Snares on January 31, and on the following day, in latitude 47deg S., longitude 172deg FL, met head winds, with rainy weather. Passed the Nuggets on the 2nd; had calms, with thick, misty weather until

sighting the Heads at 11 ptm., when i southerly breezy sprang up, with beany rain, and the vessel was hove-tc tfll 4 a.m. on the 4th; she then beingoff Mooraki, having dieted to the N.W. The wind subsequently veered to the eastward, and she anchored off the Heads at 8 p.m. same day, being towed into port as abov*.
