ROWING. The Invercargill Regatta Committee have drawn up the following programme and prize-money' for their regatta on Wednesday, February 26 :-~Maiden Fours, first £5, second £2; Maiden Pairs, first £3, second £1; Junior Fours, first £6, second £2; Junior Pairs, first £4, second £1 10s; Senior Fours, first £lO, second £5; Senior Pairs, first £5. second £2; Senior Double Sculls, first. £3, second £l. A maiden double sculling race of £2 and 15s in prizemoney is also likely to be included. The Selection Committee of the Otago Rowing Association have chosen the following crew to represent Otago in the interprovincial contest against Soutldand for the Edmond challenge shield, to be rowed this year fit the Invercargill regatta: —8. M'Donald (stroke), Frank Keenan (3), W. Porter (2), J. Williams (bow), with Donald M'Donald as emergency man. The following crews have been selected by the D.AIb.C. to row in the Trial Heavy and Light-weight Pairs, the finals of which take place on ladies' day: Heavy-weights.—A. Watson (stroke), 0. W. Harding (bow); F. Dawson (stroke), B. Brown (bow); T. Bond (stroke), T. Familton (bow); H. White (stroke), P. Scarfe (bow); A. Connell (stroke), D. Paterson (bow); D. Fraser (stroke), C. CRICKET. Wangarmi scored) 73 against Manawaiu, who replied with 78. Wangnnui in their second essay totalled 95 (Cave not out 54), and when stumps were drawn yesterday Manawaiu had obtained 59 for five wickets. The Cricket Council have decided to lake no further action, until more definite information is procurable, re importing a team of amateurs from Engkind. The selectors have been asked to pick the North and South Island teams not later than February 7. The Council will undertake all expenses in connection with the match, the management of which has ]>een' entrusted to the Hon. E. J. Stevens, Messrs Harman, Boddington, and F. C. Raphael.
At the Foxlon meeting yesterday the Flying Hack was won by Ika, with Hard Wo :k second (dividends, £8 and 16s respectively) ; the Maiden Hurdles fell to Madman (£4 lis), with Wnitohi (£l9) second ; and the Cup to Bowman, with Black Wing second. Won by a haul. Dividends, £l4 13s and £1 18s. Flanasran (£2 16si accounted for the Maiden; Tirea (£4) for the Hack Hurdles; Elusion (£2 lis) for the Stewards' ; Halberdier (£3 12s) for tho Summer Handicap, with Lady Bell (£2 8s) second : and Tryrone (£2 Is) for the Welter, with Last Spec (£2 9s) second. The sum of £5,493 was put through the lotalisator. as against £3.460 last year. At the Gore raitfs yesterday the New Year Trot fell to Good wind (29sec). vho , paid a dividend of £1 19s: the District, Hack to Colleen (£2 Ss) ; the Flviiiff J* Hawthorn (£6 12s); and the Mile 'Trot to (22sec), who beat Queen V. (22sec) by a r.eck, and returned her fcurl eon backers ihe ample dividend of £lo ss.
