CARISBROOK CRICKET CLUB.
The annual meeting of tho above club was held in Wain’s Hotel lost evening. Mr C. Morris (vice-president) occupied the chair, and there were about twenty members present. The Chairman, in moving'the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, congratulated the club on winning the shield with the A team, and also upon winning the junior shield with the D team. He said that it was satisfactory to see the junior players coming on and proving worthy successors of those who had gone before. The finances of the club were in a satisfactory condition. They had started the year with a credit balance of £36, and ended with £2l, but against this they had £l7 in outstanding subscriptions, which he presumed were all good. Mr D. Cooke seconded the motion, which was carried. The following office-bearers were elected: —President, Dr Batchelor (re-elected); vicepresidents—Messrs C. Morris and H. D. fcstronach (re-elected); captain of the club, Mr A. H. Fisher (re-elected); deputy captain, Mr E. J. Austin; secretary and treasurer, Mr W. 0. Kempthorne; committee— Messrs F. C. Liggins. D. Meldrum, J. Kingston, C. H. Broad, and C. A Cuff; delgates to the Cricket Association—Messrs C. R. Smith and F. C. Liggins; Match Committee—Messrs A. H. Fisher and E. J. Austin ; delegate to Sports Protection Society, Mr \\. 0. Kempthorne. Five new members were elected. The Chairman then presented the trophies won during the year, and mentioned that no and Mr Stronach would give a cup for the highest individual score, as in the previous year. Mr Fisher said that he would give a bat for the first, century. He also said that Mr Campbell, of the High School, had asked him to mention the matter of a professional. Mr Campbell stated that one could be got from Melbourne for five or six months, from November to June, at a cost of about £75. The expense would be borne by all the dubs. He (Mr Fisher) would like to have the opinion of members on the matter. After a short discussion, it was resolved that tho delegates to the Association be left a free hand in the matter, hut that they be recommended to vote against the proposal to bring a prolossional from Melbourne this season.
