CASUALTIES.
'to At the inquest on William Troy, who was drowned on Monday at Port Chalmers, the jury nturned ;i verdict of " Accidental drowning," and urged that the attention of the Railway Department should be called to the existing necessity for the protection of the wharves .after nightfall. An old age pensioner named William Connell, aged sixty-six years, who resided with his. sou, Leonard Connell, in Forth street, died suddenly some time yesterday. The son left home at nine o'clock in the morning, leaving his father, who appeared to be in his usual health, alone in the house. On returning about 3 p.m., young Connell found his father lying on the floor, quite dead. It seemed that he hail fallen from his chair while eating his dinner, and had died without a struggle. Death is supposed to be attributable to natural causes. The facts have been reported to the coroner, who deemed an inquest unnecessary.
