A Melbourne message states that the Board of Works 3i per cent. £400,000 loan was floated locally. The minimum was fixed at £99. The public subscribed £356,000 and the banks £150,000. The loan averaged £99 Is 2d. A Sydney message states that owing to the tick restrictions against Queensland cattle and the late drought the supply of fat cattle is very limited. Yesterday's market was the highest for fifteen years, showing a rise of £1 per head since Thursday's sale. Bullocks so.d up to £l6 10s. A further advance is expected. Beef is proportionately advancing.
