DEATH OF AN OLD PARLIAMENTARIAN.

THAMES, September 17. Colonel Fraser, Sergeant-atArms of the House of Representatives, died at his residence near the Thames to-day; aged seventy-three years. Colonel Fraser was compelled to return from Wellington after the commencement of the session on account of ill-health. Before that he had had a slight stroke of paralysis, which brought on a complication. *He was a colonel of New Zealand volunteers; saw service in the Waikato war; was elected to the Provincial Council; was warden of the Thames district; entered Parliament as a member for the Thames; was three times elected for that constituency, and was appointed Sergeant-at-Arms seven years ago.
