_A Wellington message states that tho Customs doty collected at Wellington this month was £63,394, which is a record for the port. STATISTICAL. The returns at the Custom-house, Dunedin, for the past month are as follow Customs, £45,700 19s 6d; beer duty, £2,568 3s 6d; gold export, 4,9890z, valued at £19,681. The returns for August of last year were as follow: —Customs, £54,255 17s 3d; beer duty, £1,980 12.s lid; gold export, 2,1120z, valued at £8,448. The vital statistics for August are as follow:—Births 120, deaths 80, marriages 32. Last year in August, the figures were: Births 115, deaths 57, marriages 54.
