MAGISTRATE'S COURT. (Before E. H. Carew, Esq., S.M-1 Durham and Co. (Portabello) v. T. S.Hewitt judgment summons,—There being no proof of ability to pay, tfhe case was Mt W. hj. Moore for plaintiff s, and Mr E., W. Platte for defendant. T. E. Shiel and Co. t. R. H. Kidd (Ehnv troop).—Claim, 51 14s 6d, fruit supplied. for plaintiff with cost? (14s). Moatapo and Co. v. T, J, komeden (Invercairgilf).—Claim, £l4 5s 9d, jewellery supplied.—Judgment for "plaintiffs, whom, Mr Irwin represented, with cpsts (£1 10s 6d). W. J. Paterson v. J. Anderson.—Claim, £4 2s 6d, jeweUery supplied.—Judgment for plaintiff, whom Mr Gallaway represented, •with costs (lis). CITY PQWCE COURT. (Before C. C. Graham, Esq., S.M.J fipst offender was fined ss, or twenty-four hours' imprisonment. Street. Brawls.—James paton and Frederick Yansen were charged with, committing a breach of the peace by. fighting in the Octagon at ten minutes to eleven on Saturday night,—Yansen pleaded guilty and Paton not guilty. The latter'a account of the affair was that the other defendant kicked him, and that ha retaliated by striking him. Paton then called James M'Kay and William Fogarty to corroborate his version of what took place.—His Worship fined Yansen 40a and Paton 10s.
Frederick Yansen was further charged with assaulting Constable Cameron while in the execution of his duty, The evidence showed that accused on being arrested far the forpu'r offence became very violent, and kicked the constable on the legs, causing him groat pain.—Fined 40s. Peter Bateman pleaded guilty to committing a breach of the peace by fighting in For? bury road, and was also fined 40s.
Probition Orders." —A prohibition order was granted agaimt Philip Strnchau on the application of his wife, for -whom Mr W. D. Stewart' appeared., An order was granted against another man for the first time.
