WORK AND WAGES.

A meeting of the Otago Trades and, Labor Council was held last evening. The correspondence included a letter from the Citi■zens’ Vigilance Committee, enclosing a number! of questions to be submitted to candidates for election to the City Council. As the AVorkers’ Political Committee have taken up the matter of the municipal elections, it was decided to-pass the letter to that Committee. The election of delegates to represent the Council at-the annual Trades and Labor Councils’ Conference, to be held in Dunedin during Easter,'resulted in Messrs Pv. Slater, W. Hood, and R. Breed being selected. It. was. decided to leave it in the hands of the delegates to use their discretion in dealing with the various subjects to be dealt with at the Conference. A subcommittee reported that it had been, arranged to entertain the delegates to the Conference at a- picnic, and to hold a social in one of the halls in-the City, to which-all delegates, the members of the Trades and Labor Council, and their friends would be invited. . The 1 secretary was instructed •to forward a letter of sympathy to Mr A. Morrison, M.H.R., and satisfaction was expressed; that Air'Morrison’s state of health had much improved. The Hosiery-workers’ .Union, at a special meeting held in the Trades.Ha.il last night, decided to support MrAUm. Hood, president of the Workers’, Political, Committee, who is a candidate.for the vacant seat on the Conciliation Board. ,
