Trooper Forsyth, of the First New Zealand Contingent, was entertained by his old comrades and friends at a social at Portobello last night. Mr W. Dickson occupied the nhair. and presented the returned trooper with a valuable gold albert chain and pendant, suitably inscribed. The recipient thanked all and sundry for their many kindnesses since his return. Several songs and short speeches were given, and a •very pleasant evening was spent. The meeting was held in the school hall, which was quite full. The Peninsula was well represented, and the visitors from Dunedin and Port Chalmers included Mr E. G. Allen M.H.R., Mr De Maus (Mayor of Port Chalmers),Lieutenant Prain (of the Otago Hussars), and others.
