Oamaru.—Building trades : Good in timber and stone ; all available hands employed.—Engineering trade : Good; regular hands all employed.—Boot trade : Good ; usual hands at full work.—Clothing trade : Very good; all available hands employed. Retail trade (general) : Business generally good.—Miscell'ai eons: During the month business generally has had an upward tendency. The approach of the. holidays and the good prospect of a. plentiful harvest, no doubt, has been the cause.—Unskilled labor: Seven men applied for work They were sent to co-operative, employment, on the Elderslic Estate road-making. There arc only a few men now out of regular employment ; those lew will not. leave the town, as they find occasiona hvork on the wharf and in stores.

Dunedin.—Building trades: Carpenters are still in demand. Bricklayers, masons, [winters, and plasterers working full time.— Engineering trades : All branches are still busy, but there is not the demand for tradesmen that obtained a few months ago. The shops arc now fully manned.—Boot trade : There, is no improvement in the. condition of trade this month, a number of hands being only partly employed, whilst others are out of work altogether.—Clothing trade : Factories, have been very busy"during the. moDth, all of them having worked overtime. There is still a keen demand for tailoresscs. Shop tailoring and dressmaking.very busy, overtime being worked in all workrooms.—Retail trade (general) : First-class business has been the rule in all branches of trade.—Unskilled labor: Application* for employment have been fewer this month than at any other time of the year.
