The examinations for the final professional section of the Otago University's degree of MM. will begin at ten o'clock to-morrow morning. The examinations will be conducted at the University, and Mr F Litt'e .-will be supervisor. There are thirteen candidates for the "inquistion," which beirins iwith surgery as the first subject. Messrsi Edward Thomas Biteman and Andrew Millar were yesterday nominated to represent First Ward in the Mornin R ton Council. Xho poll takes place on the 28th insfc. Advices from Nine, where Lord Ranfuily recently hoisted the British flag, indicate that both whites and natives are unanimous in their disapproval of federation with New Zealand, the main reason being, apparently, the fear of taxation being imposed v-bere at present there w jj/ine.
