MEETINGS OF SOCIETIES.
The Guiding Star Juvenile Temple of Good Templars met for their first meeting on Thursday evenftig in the Friendly Societies' Hall, South Dunedin; Sis. Newall superintendent, Bro. Hunt chief templar. There -was a good attendance. A communication was xeceived from tho Alliance Lodge re the proposed Commonwealth carnival. An excellent programme of harmony was contributed by Sis. Mullins (song), Sis. Thomas (recitation), Bro. Nepali (song), Sis. South (recitation), Bro. Ruston (song), Bro. J. Wilson (song), and Sis. Bainham and Bro. Aulds (piano solos). Sis. Rainham, jim., presided at. the piano; Bro. J. Wilson and Bro. Newall responded for the visitors. The Alliance Lodge of Good Templars held their weekly meeting on Wednesday m the Friendly Societies' Hall, South Dunedin, Bro. W. A. lies, chief templar, presiding. Four candidates were initiated, and two members reinstated. Bro. Emerson, L.D., aDd Sis. Hogan, chaplain of rho Lifeboat Lodge, Timaru, were introduced by Bro. Cameron, G.S., and received a heartv Melcome. Correspondence was rei.v.v.i from the Star of Hope Lodge, Kaitangata. The officers of the lodge "were appjm.ed ,-\ committee to arrange in conjimc:im with 1 lie Guiding Star Temple a Commonwealth carnival, for the purpose of raising funds for a temperance library and benevolence. After recess the harmony programme was opened by a piano solo by Sis. .Wentv.-orth ; I song. Sis. Richardson ; song, ' The star of | Bethlehem,' by Sis. Holmes; trio, bv Sis. j and Bros. H." and S. Stubbs. It was re- I solved to visit Ravensbonxne officially. The I vote to the visitors was responded to by | Bro. Emerson (Timaru). Bro. Cameron j (Pioneer), Sis. Austin (Lily of the Valley). Bro. Wilson (Ravensbonrne). Bro. Todd ! (Hope of Dunedin), and Bro. Tily K'.T. ; Hope of Caversham).
The weekly meeting of the Hope, of Dun edin Lodge of Good Templars was held in Rattray street Hall on Friday. Bro. Todd. C.T.. presided. Bro. Emerson and Sister Heoff, of the Lifeboat Lodge, Timaru, and Sister Waller, of the Hope of Christchtrrch, were present, and conveyed greetings from their lodges. Bro. Sand'ilands read a New Year's address. The following onntrihutcVl harmony:—Sis. Agnes Thomas (recitation). Sis. South, jun. (piano solo), Sis. M. Martin (song). Bro. Todd (song). Si;;.
