THE NEW RAILWAY STATION.
THE MINISTER SPEAKS PLAINLY. His Worship the Mayor received the following wire from the *Hon. J. G. Ward, Minister of Railways, on Saturday : '" Resolution of vour Council askin°- f or a crossing over St. Andrew street is a breach of the arrangement made between voarsclf and myself. I skill be glad to know whether your Corporation insist upon the resolution. If so, the undertaking which I have already given must be considered as at an end, and the station will bo put where the Government consider best in the interests of the public-and the department; without any further complications. Ir, is absolutely impossible, in view of all that is required, to have a crossing at St. Andrew street, and if this decision of the Council is adhered to, so fur as they are concerned, they throw the responsibifty upon the Government of making other arrangements J. G. Wabd."
