THE INSPIRATION OF THE BIBLE.
Last evcnmg a large audience assembled at the rabemacle, King street, to hear Mr Watt discourse on the theme ‘ Many InfnlUble Proof* of the Inspiration of the Bible.’ The keenest interest was manifested to the close, while the preacher treated of—(3.) The claim of the Bible to be inspired; (8) the perfect harmony of the (5) its perfect morality: and (4) its fulfilled predictions. Before entering on this last head Mr Watt said that the objectors to prophecy were mutually destructive of each other, one school declaring' that ‘‘ the Old Testament predictions are so obscure that you can make them mean anything or nothing , while another declares that “ tno predictions enter into such details that they have been evidently foisted in by early Christians after the events.'’ Thus those men, like the proverbial cats, eat each other up. The instances dealt with were —(1) The exact time of the birth of Christ, as shewn by Daniel is., 25rand (8) the particulars attending His death, as given in Psalm 22 and Isaiah 53. The address was one of a series, * and the one announced for next Sunday evening U sure to attract many to hear it—‘ Moses and Darwin. Is the Bible Against Science P’ .Mr Watt expresses himself prepared to answer any questions dealing with the various subjects.
