Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, May 26. The wool sales have closed. , There was strong competition, but prices were unchanged. Compared with March the closing rates for good merinoes declined 5 per cent., faulty 10 per cent., fine cross-breda 5 to 7A per cent., medium and low cross-breds 5 cent. During the sales 138,000 bales were catalogued, of which 09,000 were sold for homo consumption, 50,000 for the Continent, 3,000 for America, and 166,000 carried forward. The arrivals for the fourth series total 154,000 bales, while 38,000 have been forwarded to manufacturers. The quantity available is 283,000. The Now Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, have received the following cable from their Loudon office: o ose of last sales, g easy msr’no super, fine greasy cross-bred and medium scoured cross-bred are Id to IJd per lb lower; greasy merino, medium and inferior, and coafae scoured cross-bred ore 1:1 to Id livrer; medtuin greasy cross-bred is id lower; coarse greary cross-bred is par to|l lowsr; fine sooured cross-bred, medium to good, and inferior scoured merino is lsd to 21 lower; super scoured msrino is 21 u> 31 per lb lower.”
