MEETINGS OF SOCIETIES.

The fortnightly meeting o! the Loyal Cavcraham Lodge, M.U., was held in the lodge room on Wednesday. N.G. Bro. J. Will prsaided. There was a good attendawee of members, and a large amount of oorrepondeace was dealt with. Four oandidoeis were proposed. P.G. Bro. J. Broadfoot (Loyal Hand and Heart Lodge) responded to the second toast of the evening, and P.G M. Bro. J. Briggs responded to tha third toast of the evening. The evening’s receipts were £lB 8j lid. The fortnightly meeting of the Star of Freedom Lodge, 1.0. G.T., Roslyn, was opened at 7.30 p.m. on Wednesday last, Cvo. M. Whale, C.T., presiding. After the routine business the reports of the various officers were submitted and adopted. The reports showed the lodge to be in a good financial condition. Finance, Sick, Room, and Entertainment Committees were appointed for the ensuing quarter, and one candidate was proposed for membership Bro. 11. Wilkinson then read the syllabus for the ensuing quarter, and Bro. Billie, Hands, S.J.T. District Lodge, stated his intention of initiating a Juvenile Temple of the Order in the Roslyn district. The lodge went into hannonv. the following contributing: Sisters H’enderson, M’Glashan, and Whide, and Bros. Scoullar, Dalton, and Whale; whilst Bro. Tuey played on the autoharp. Votes of thanks to the visitors were responded to by Bros. Dalton, Tiley. Sandilands, Mockford, and Snow on behalf of their respective lodges.
