RAILWAY REFORMS.

PROMOTIONS AND NEW OFFICES. It is understood that the Hon. J. G. Ward, at the banquet at Invercargill to Mr Hanan, M.H.R., on Tuesday night, will announce certain important changes, especially in tho Railway Department It is intended to appoint two inspectors or district superintendents—one for each island. The North Island inspector will be the traffic manager now at Auckland, Mr A. Gr&nt, whose residence will henceforth be at Wellington. Mr Gaw, traffic manager at Christchurch, will be tho South Island inspector, and will be transferred to Dunedin, Mr Arthur taking his place at Christchurch. These changes will come into operation almost immediately.
