Roes (the captain) filled the vacancy, and the score increased steadily to 362, when Jacobß played the ball into Wynyard's hands at mid-off, but the fieldsman dropped it. At 381 Ross was caught by George Mills off Stephens. 381—4—42. At the luncheon adjournment the score was 401 for four wickets, Jacobs being not out with 40, and Fry not out 5.
