LONDON, January 28. The wool sales closed with prices firm and unchanged. The total number of balea catalogued was 106,275, of which there were sold : To home buyers 43,000, Continent 36,000, America 4,000, and carried forward to the next series 57,000. Compared with December rates merinoes declined 5 to 10 per cent, (medium and inferior suffering most) and cross-breds from par to 5 per cent. The decline was most marked with the finest sorts.

Dalgety and Company, Limited, have received the following cable from their London office, dated 26th inst. :—" Wool: Sales closed firm, without further change in price?. Out of the total quantity available for sale tome 47,000 bales have been sold for home consumption, 36,000 balea for the Continent, 4,000 bales for America, leaving 57,000 bales to be carried forward to the next series. Compared with the closing rates of the last series, prices of superior greasy merino woola are lower by 5 to S per cent., and other descriptions of merinoes and fine cross-breds by 10 per cent. For the other descriptions of cross-bred woola prices are on a par with the closing rites of last a rierj."
