THE TEMPERANCE PARTY ACTIVE.
STRATFORD, May 16. A largely-attended public meeting was held last night to discuss the attitude the Temperance party should take up at the next election. People of all shades of political opinion were present, and after a long and lively discussion it was decided not to run a Prohibition candidate., Every effort is, however, to be made to carry Prohibition at the local option poll. Great dissatisfaction was expressed at the action of the magistrate (there being no Committee in the Egmont district) in granting eleven o’clock licenses last June without notice. It was decided to employ counsel at the annual meeting in June to oppose eleven o’clock extension thto year, Sshool committees are to be asked w> introduce temperance lesson books into the schools.
