WHOLESALE CONDEMNATION. ' WELLINGTON. Apia 7i The Oity. CouooU'b medical offioer inspected and Condemned no less than thirty-five shanties in one street. He reported that they were insanitary, overcrowded, beyond repair, and improperly drained. Iu one three-roomed cottage, with only one bedroom, he found eight persona living. One councillor, who also inspected the places, said that he could not have believed anything equal to .the disgusting state of these tenements. The Council decided to take action in aocordanoe with the medical officer's report. '
