THE NEW ZEALAND CRICKET TEAM.

THE HOBART MATCH D'iwlWN. The cricket match between the New Zealand team and an eleven representing South Tasmania ended in a draw. Tho first innings of the Tasmanians resulted in their runni i£ up a score of 343, or 8 more than the 335 scored by the New Zealand teams At the end of the day's play the New Zealand team in their second innings hitd lost three wickets for 103 runs. Baker was not out with 61 and Cobcroft not out 1L The Tasmanians were unable to get their team to play on the third day (to-day). The weather yesterday was lovely, but the light was dull. The attendance was most disappointing. On play being resumed, Eady and lU'Leod faced Upham and Fisher. At 115 Downes bowled M'Lecd. Hawson partnered Eady. Both played vigorous cricket, the latter making fine drives. Frequent changes of bowling proved ineffectual, until at 190 Eady drove a ball from Reese hard back to the bowler, who held it. The Tasmanian umpire, after appealing to the other umpire, gave it as not out, but a3 the latter decided against the batsman, Cobcroft insisted on Eady's retirement. This was the only contretemps of the match. Eadys score included four Ts one 3, and ten 2's. With the score at 210 Maxwell drove Reese into the hands of Ike Mills. After luncheon Upham bo led Ward, and Davis joined Hawson, the pair playing an excellent game without the semblance of a chance. At 276 Hawson played Fisher into Upham's hands in the slips. His score included six 4's and three 3's. At 301 Bingham, who ought to have been stumped when he had scored 3, Was bowled by Upham. Riciardson knocked up his runs in double quick time, getting nine 2 hits off Frankish and seven off Fisher. At 332 Reese captured his wicket. In the next over George —ills made a splendid catch at the edge of the botm-Ury, and dismissed Davis, whose score inclu lei six 4's. Tho fielding of the New Zealanders was quite a revelation, but the bowling was not so good. Frankish was decidedly off cilor. On the Tasmanians taking the field Baker mid George Mills faced Eady and Ward. The Aucklander, playing late, fell a victim to the fast bowler without scoring. One for eight. At 66 Reese was caught behind the wickets. At 83 Lusk was caught off Eady in the slips. Baker and Cobcroft played out time. The former gave a soft chance in the slips when he had made 22. He showed, however, that he was quite at home with fast bowling. Scores:
