CENTRAL COMMITTEE ROOM?, in Moray place, OPEN from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. R. CLARK, Secretary. ADVEBTISEiTENT. WORKERS' POLITICAL COMMITTEE. ONE wonders what purpose the members of this Committea supposed they would serve by publishing my letter addressed to their secretary, and my comment on their subsequent action. These documents, they say, need no comment, and for once they are right. They have given me an excellent advertisement, and for that much I thank them. Although the Committee is in no sense a representative body, and I had reason to know how a majority of its members would act, there was still the hope that their constitution might not be treated as so much waste paper, and I therefore proceeded on the ohari table assumption that they might assume a virtue if they had it not. At all events, it was not advisable that I should give the Committee the excuse of saying that I could not be nominated because I had not approached them—an excuse which would have readily been seized if it had been given. Hence my letter " before the selection." Selection, quotha! I confess I was not quite prepared for the miserable fiasco that followed. I hardly realised the ease with which the Committee could be manipulated. Hence my comment " after the selection." WILLIAM HUTCHISON. DUNEDIN CITY ELECTION. R ALEX.
