LONDON, September 9. The London ‘ Gazette 5 announces that the Queen has recognised the appointment of Mr Dillingham as American Consul at Auckland.
The total quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is estimated at 1,070,000 quarters, and for the Continent at 1,390,000 quarters. Mark Lane to-day is very firm, English wheat showing an advance of Is per quarter on the week, and foreign of 2s per quarter. ‘ Sporting Life ’ says that Cavill swam equal to expectation, considering his weight.
1 PARIS, September 9. The Paris trade paper estimates that the French wheat yield this year will show a decrease of 36,000,000 hecolitres compared with the vield of 1896.
