News is to hand of the death at Melbourne of Mr G. K Schultze, late of Waikouaiti. The deceased, who was fortyeight years of age, married a granddaughter of the late " Johnny " Jones. The Rev. W. J. Habena, secretary to the Education Department, is in very bad health, and will visit Rotorna.
The 'lntercolonial Bandsman' (Sydney) has the following:—" Mr P. Sandilands, who resigned his position of bandmaster of the Hobart Town Band a few weeks ago, passed through Sydney the other day on his way to New Zealand, where he intends to establish himself and family in the future." Mr Sandilands waa formerly a resident of Oainaru.
Mr Rasmusaen, of Dunedin, succeeds Mr R. B. Ross as railway station-master at Dipton.
Mr Gustave Kuchen, at one time champion rifle shot of Wellington, and for many years a sergeant in the D Battery of Artillery, died of consumption at his residence, Wellington, on Saturday night. For many years he took part in the prize-firing meetings of the New Zealand Rifle Association.
