THE RISING IN INDIA.
SEVERE FIGHTING EXPECTED. A telegram has been received from Lord Elgin stating that the Hadda mollah has collected a force of 4,000 Mohmands, and is preparing to attack Tichue, a British fort in the I unjiib, fifteen miles north-west of Reshawaun. Reinforcements have been despatched to the fort from Shabkadar. Geneial Elies is in command of 10 000 troops m the vicinity of Shabkadar, with whic i he will advance into the Mohmands’ country.
Colonelßmdou Blood’s force will assist Genera! Elks. Severe fighting is expected. Colonel Biggs a rorce has reached Fort Hangu and formed a strongly entrenched camp, waiting f,, r an opportunity to attack, ino Ordkzus are assembled in large force in tlie \ icinity of Samaria. 9(,S ! b d V' f F ' Rdd > a of the -Jlh Bengal Infantry, has been despatched to Uch to support the Khan of Dir, who is threatened by the Mollah Hadda. The Uch tribesmen in British Baluchistan have paid a fane ot 10.000 rupees, and are repairing the damage done to the roads. b Lieutenant-colonel Abbott, leading a detachment of Bengal Lancers and Sikhs attacked 1,-rOO tribesmen at Doaba, twenty! two miles north of Pcshawur. The cavalry lauea to stop the enemy’s retreat. The telegraph line to Sabba has been cut.
