LORD RANFURLY.

His Excellency and Lady Ranfurly left Wellington for Auckland via Palmerston North this morning. They join the Tutanekai at New Plymouth.

On Lord Ranfurly's appointment as Governor of New Zealand he was presented by the Ulster Loyalist Union with a massive silver bowl, richly chased, with festoons composed of the rose, shamrock, and thistle, and mounted on an ebony base. The bowl bears the following inscription :—" Presented by the Council of the Ulster Loyalist Union to their president, the Right Hon. Uchter John Mark, fifth Earl of Ranfurly, on his appointment, as Governor of New Zealand; May sth, 1897." '
